How long would it take you to Fall to the Other Side of the Earth?

If you were to dig a tunnel in the middle of the earth and fall through its center onto the other side, exactly how long would it take you to do so? Physicists have been struggling to find an answer to this question for several years and the obvious answer that has emerged thus far, is that it would take no longer than forty two minutes to do so. A new discovery made in Carlisle in Pennsylvania however shows that this can be achieved in a time frame that is four minutes less than the previously proposed one.

According to David Jackson who teaches at the Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, it is studies such as this that makes physics an interesting subject. The answer is what has been calculated on the basis of how the force of gravity of a particular object can change when it begins to start falling through a channel. Alexander Klotz, a physics grad at McGill University in Canada who made use of the preliminary reference earth model to arrive at his deductions reached the exact same answer, which is, that it won’t take one longer than thirty eight minutes to fall through to the earth’s other side.
