Next step in Hydrogen fuel

Next step in Hydrogen fuel

As the world is heading towards abolishing conventional fossil fuels, it has started looking for the alternative energy resources. The solar energy, wind are not reliable enough and change as per the weather conditions. So scientists have started researching about the ways to exploit hydrogen, one of the largest elements present on the Earth in the form of water.

The Stalks, husks and other waste products in corn farming can be very useful to yield hydrogen fuel in future, according to the scientists. The hydrogen fueled transport systems are going to create revolution in world as they have almost zero emissions and this can further trigger more possibilities for the research in the similar field. The cheap hydrogen fuel is way ahead to future. Hydrogen economy will be definitely greener and can be created by locally available biomass resources.

The study was headed by Professor Percival Zhang, who belongs to biological systems engineering at Virginia Tech. The present study is an extension of his research work in past about most common pentose sugar in plants called Xylose and the advance stage of the research can give practical methods to produce hydrogen fuels from these materials. These concepts are only present in theory today. The dirty biomass like wasted husks, corns’ plant stalks and other agricultural waste can be directly used to produce the fuel now. Previously only process sugars were useful in terms of hydrogen fuel production.

The local entrepreneurship can be boosted via setting up fuel plants around agricultural bases now as raw material can be processed cheaply in the plant now.
