Interesting facts about Hollywood

Simply said, there are million interesting and funny facts about Hollywood. Probably you know many of them, but there are even more that you still don’t know, yet. A lot of fame, celebrities and free lifestyle, over the years, made all of those facts. Let’s see several of them.

• The first movie filmed in Hollywood was ‘’In old California’’. It was filmed in 1910, and it was a short movie (17 minute). The director of the movie was, D.W. Griffith. He was also responsible for ‘’Birth of a nation’’.

• Harvey and Daeida Wilcox had a ranch on the place where Hollywood is. The name of that ranch was, Hollywood.

• The first movie studio in Hollywood was Nestor Studio. It was set in 1911, at 6121 Sunset Blvd.

• Before 1910, movie theaters were banned in Hollywood.

• The ‘’ HOLLYWOODLAND’’ sign, should stay 18 months only. It was an advertisement for Harry Chandler, a real estate agent, who paid $21.000 in 1923 for this sign. In 1949 the sign was changed to ‘’HOLLYWOOD”.

• The famous Warner Brothers studio was set in 1918, by 4 brothers who worked as trade soap salesmen.

• The first movie with sound, made in Hollywood was ‘’The Jazz Singer’’. It was directed by Alan Crosland in 1927.

• Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End is one of the costliest movies of all times. It cost $300 million.

• The Oscar or Academy Awards was first held in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Then, 270 people attend to the ceremony.

• The first movie, made in a Hollywood studio was ‘’The Squaw Man’’. It was filmed in 1914.

• Between 500 and 700 movies are released in Hollywood every year.
