Maybe you believe that the Universe and planets are still unknown and that we don’t know anything about them, but the Universe is better explored than the oceans on Earth. Scientists have discovered many new and interesting facts about start, planets and the Universe in general. For us, the most interesting planet is Mars. The famous big, red planet.
•    The 3rd month in a year, March is named after this planet.
•    The ancient Greeks believe that Mars and the other 4 planets are revolving around the Earth. They also believed that the Earth was the center of the Universe.
•    Mars has red color due to iron oxide. The metallic rooks are rusting on Mars.
•    Water on Mars can exist only as ice or vapor, because the atmosphere is so thin.
•    People cannot survive on Mars without a suit. In a couple of seconds (without a suit) oxygen in our bodies will turn into bubbles.
•    Mars was known as: Star of death (Nergal) in the Babylon, One who blushes (Ma’adim) by the Hebrews and Roman and Greeks named it after their gods of war, Mars and Ares.
•    You will need 271 years and 221 days to reach Mars if you were driving a car at 60mph.
•    Mars doesn’t have an ozone layer. This means that the surface is bathed with a huge dose of radiation.
•    Mars has huge canyons and mountains. Some of them are taller than the Himalayas.
•    Mars has the deadliest dust storms in the Universe. Wind can reach 125 mph. They can last several weeks and they can cover the entire planet.
•    We have sent a lot of spacecraft on Mars. Only 1/3 reach its surface.
